ABOUT ME AND MY APPROACH.....
Human Beings Are Biological Entities...Full of Capacity for Self-Healing and Change
Ever since I was young, I was fascinated with people: what motivates us, what moves us, what do we fear? This curiosity led me to pursue a life-long study of psychological science.
My formal studies include Masters of Counselling and Ph.D in Brain and Cognitive Science from the University of Calgary and I am a Registered Psychologist in British Columbia. My treatment is informed by the neurobiology involved in the trauma response. PTSD is one well known example; developmental trauma related to adverse childhood experiences is another; physical brain trauma such as head injury is yet another.
A typical client in my practice presents with symptoms of anxiety, depression, anger or rage, inability to control impulses, sleep disturbances, cognitive fogginess, lack of energy, chronic pain and many others. Secondarily, the above issues often cause difficulties in social contexts such as work, parenting, or intimate relationships.
From a trauma perspective, I am working with an overwhelmed nervous system. While the range of trauma experiences clients have suffered are nearly infinite and unique, the range of responses the central nervous system can take are predictable and fairly limited. I design my treatments based on the data I collect from each client's brain activity and from a clinical interview.

Throughout my years of studies and clinical practice, I assembled a treatment approach based on cutting-edge research in the disciplines of neuroscience and the neurobiology of trauma.
